It’s hard to believe the hotel has been open for more than two months already! It’s been a busy, exciting time for our team at the Sarasota Sleep Inn / MainStay Suites, with the most exciting moments being a direct result of wowing our first guests.
Thanks to all our guests who took the time to share a review on TripAdvisor since our dual-concept hotel opened on August 24, 2018. Here’s a sampling of comments about their personal stays.
We’ve stayed in a lot of hotels (37+) in the Sarasota FL area the past three years, so I’m well qualified to review this one. And it’s great! These guys have given the rooms some serious thought: First of all, the Mainstay rooms are HUGE. Maybe 25’ x 30’, twice that of some smaller hotels. (I understand that the Sleep Inn rooms are, naturally, smaller and less appointed.) And, of course, it’s a new hotel, so everything is shiny and clean, no surprise there. Rooms have plenty of storage, iron and boards, and on floor laundry rooms. We had a suite, which comes with a full refrigerator/freezer, induction burner and pot, microwave, dishes, silverware, coffee maker, sink (loved the fancy detachable faucet!) and more. But for road warriors like me, it’s the small extra touches that make the difference: First, I just can’t stand it when you check into a room that looks like they cleaned it up after a fight and all the lampshades are cockeyed. Here, the lamps have the shades bolted on and straight as they should be. The blinds are great, can make the room dark without any adjustment or unsightly bunching of drapes. The mirror is actually full length, must be 8 ft., you can see your shoes to your hair. The the desk, which has a great lamp, actually lets you push the desk chair underneath the desk, so it doesn’t stick out and trip you. The phone works and has a data port and USB charger (as do all of the room lamps), so you can charge your cell phone from anywhere in the room. Carpet squares are a nice touch, a defense against accidents and spills that can stain carpets but don’t require a monumental remodel to fix. The toilet is tall, not virtually on the floor, as many older hotels do, quite comfortable. Nice night light in the bathroom, too, lights up a lot more than those hair dryer lights. Bed was incredibly comfortable with silky sheets and great pillows, arm chair comfy as well. We didn’t try the beach shuttle, heard they had one. The pool and fire pit were still under construction. Included breakfast had everything from waffles to eggs, Rosie kept it up nicely. But the machines are the real stars here: The juice machine had four juices, the coffee machine had the “bold” coffee setting, which thrilled me. And the milk machine was the best – You could get whole, 2% or chocolate from a chilled machine which dispensed the milk from 5 gallon jugs, no constant refilling those quart carafes which always run out. Finally, all the front desk people and management we worked with were all well trained and helpful. My wife first talked to Jaquelle on the phone and she answered all our questions about the hotel, then she was both sweet and professional when we checked in. We knew Rhonda from another Choice property and we were thrilled to see that she transferred here. She knows her stuff and will be a great asset here! The evening guy, Parker, was informed and friendly as well. If you’re in the area, you’ve gotta stay here!!
I spent two nights in this very nice hotel, staff very friendly and attentive. I loved the spacious room! The breakfast was very good and the staff kept fresh food at at all times, there were three events going on when I was there so very busy but everything was very smooth.
Spent a week with my family while we attended the Masters Regatta at the park nearby. The only negative thing I can mention is that the pool was not yet built. As far as the hotel, it’s new, modern, clean, breakfast is a 10 (Michael and the lady helping at breakfast are both great), location is perfect, etc. Rhonda checked us in and out and couldn’t have been nicer. Hoping to go back soon!
Arrived in town for one night for a family get together. Check in was very smooth and without issue. Keys worked when we arrived at our well appointed 2 queen room. Coffee/microwave/mini fridge. And the bathroom amenities were upgrade. Beds were impeccably made and the sheets were very comfortable. Four pillows for each bed and they too were amazing! Well appointed breakfast awaits us in the morning
Nice size room, great location, clean room, clean facility, great accommodations, friendly staff, minutes from University Town Center mall, minutes from Nathan Benderson Park, adjacent to interstate 75, few miles from Lido Beach in Siesta Key.
We had an opportunity to get away for an evening and chose this brand new hotel. Conveniently located just off I75 near shopping, restaurants and close to downtown Sarasota. The service was great, the room was very comfortable and the jacuzzi was AMAZING!!!!!! If you are looking for a great centrally located hotel in Sarasota, this is your spot.
We did a mini staycation last evening- dinner out and hotel stay. What a fabulous lodging experience at The MainStay. Guest service was true southern hospitality at it’s best. Kim greeted us and preceded to set the mood for our stay. Wonderful. Our room was comfy- the large tv was great to watch our Rays beat the Braves. The jacuzzi style tub was very cool. The sleeping room size was expansive along with the restroom. The property is convenient to downtown Sarasota, The University Town Center Mall, Lakewood Ranch, The Ringling Museum , and all the beaches including the #1 beach in the country, Siesta Beach. We had a lovely meal close by at Kacey’s. Morning FREE breakfast was delicious and expansive. Again the café team was helpful, professional and talkative. How nice. We will return and refer to friends and family.
I normally stay some place else in Sarasota but curiosity got the better of me and I wanted to try the new hotel. They haven’t even been open a week so EVERYTHING is brand new and pristine. From the minute I walked in I was greeted warmly and every staff member I encountered treated me as if I was a special guest and the only one in the hotel. That service is sorely missed by most hotels. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed. Really appreciated the full-length mirror in the bedroom. I upgraded to a room with a jacuzzi tub and it was wonderful. Breakfast was quite an experience. The coffee choices are incredible. You can even get iced coffee and have numerous choices for creamers, cinnamon, etc. It’s like they have a barista. They also have iced cold milk and chocolate milk. I tried the waffles and the mix they use had a really nice, light flavor, unlike other places. If there was one, small criticism it would be that they should have some sort of granola, but they had plenty of food choices for breakfast. Another plus was the friendly attendant, Michael, who was doing a great job keeping everything clean and filled. This hotel does everything well and then throws in the extra personal touch and service on top of it all. I have found my new hotel in Sarasota and will send all my friends and family there too. Don’t even try any other place in Sarasota. Point your car in their direction and prepare to be amazed. You will not be disappointed!
